Vladislav Kozakevich is a famous Polish pole vaulter and multi-fighter who won the 1980 Summer Olympics. He is also a three-time world record holder of 1977 and 1979 European Indoor Athletics Championships and a 10-time Polish champion. But that’s not the only reason why this persona is famous. He is the owner of the famous “Kozakevich gesture” in Poland.
Impressive achievements, but how could this be related to the Salcininkai region? V. Kozakevicius was born in 1953. In Salcininkeliai and lived in here for the first years of his life. Interestingly, his former home is on the other side of the road from our center. In the photo we see Vladislav standing in the place where his native house stood.
